Two family links trainers will run a 4 day programme for school staff, to set up programmes within schools or in a community setting.  The course has already been run several times, and some staff from schools in this area have completed the training alongside MAST workers, Education Psychologists, colleagues from Sure Start and other agencies.

In order to run the programme for parents you need to have at least 2 trained parent group leaders (which could be from 2 schools in the same area).  Vicky Elbourne (CAMHS Child and Family Support Worker) has a list of the people who have already completed the training.  The programme has been validated by NAPP (National Academy for Parenting Programmes) as part of its overhaul of the NAPP toolkit for Parenting Commissioners.

The 'Nurturing Programme' aims to promote emotional literacy and emotional health in adults and children, to raise self-esteem, to empower children to make responsible choices and improve links between school and home.
This programme supports the Emotional Wellbeing theme of the Healthy Schools Standard.
Parents learn to:- use praise, set clear boundaries, maintain effective discipline, be a more confident nurturing parent.
