School Nursing Team on The Lighthouse

Health information will be passed onto you through the ongoing work that the school nurse team are involved in.

About the School Nursing Team

The team consists of qualified nurses and health care assistants who work between health and education. The school nursing team provide a link with primary and secondary schools, home and the community.

The school nursing team have a varied role and are based in the community and work in partnership with each of their schools to provide a service to children and young people.

This role includes:

  • Assessing the health needs of five year old children
  • Undertaking immunisations programmes
  • Running drop-in sessions
  • Supporting children and young people with complex health care needs
  • Contributing to school curriculum in delivering health promotion
  • Work alongside multi agency professionals to provide support and guidance as required
  • Undertake the National child measurement programme as directed by the Department of Health for North East Lincolnshire

Each school is allocated a named school nurse and a service is provided by the school nurse team. The School Nurse can be contacted through each of the schools if support is required.

School Activities

For the attention of all Year 8, year 10 and year 11 girls, click here for information on the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) vaccination. (Word Document)

The school nursing team would like to thank all of the year 8, 10 and 11 girls for  having their HPV vaccinations and for being so brave.  The third and final dose will be given to you in about five months time and it is the same as the first and second injections.  We look forward to seeing you all.

The school nursing team will be coming into the Comprehensive Schools between December 2009 and March 2010 to see all Year 10 boys and girls to give them their School Leaving Booster injection.  We would like to thank all of the year 10 pupils that we have seen so far for being very brave.
